Marquardt is a family-owned company founded in 1925, headquartered in Rietheim, southern Germany, and is one of the world's leading manufacturers of electromechanical, electronic switches and switch systems. As an electromechanical expert, numerous well-known automobile manufacturers use Marquardt products such as HMI control components, keyless entry systems, and battery management systems. Marquardt's system solutions are also applied in household appliances, industrial applications, as well as power tools and electric bicycles. The Marquardt Group has over 10,000 employees at 19 locations across four continents. In 2017, global sales reached 1.2 billion euros. Each year, Marquardt invests 10% of its turnover in innovation and research and development. Marquardt entered China in 1996 and established Marquardt Switches (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. in the Heqing Industrial Park, Pudong, Shanghai. After several phases of expansion and development, Marquardt Shanghai's new modern production and office building was completed and put into use in 2011. To date, Marquardt Shanghai covers an area of over 20,000 square meters. By the end of 2017, Marquardt Shanghai had more than 1,000 employees. Over the years, through its two business units - Automotive and Switches, Sensors & Control Systems - Marquardt Shanghai has achieved double-digit annual sales growth and holds a major position in the corresponding domestic industries. Over the past two decades, Marquardt has established long-term cooperation with several major global companies in the fields of automotive, switches, sensors, and control systems in the Asian market. Marquardt's second wholly-owned subsidiary in China is located in Weihai, established in the Weihai Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone. A grand groundbreaking ceremony was held in September 2017, and the project is expected to be completed by early 2019. Marquardt Weihai will cover approximately 30,000 square meters and will be a factory equipped with a modern office environment and high-standard production equipment. To meet the future high demand for battery management systems, Marquardt Weihai will feature clean production workshops, especially in the electronic production area. Marquardt Weihai will further establish and strengthen long-term cooperative relationships with key customers in Asia.
