吉林省蚕业科学研究院始建于1952年，是隶属于吉林省农业委员会的省属甲级科研单位。主要从事柞蚕、桑蚕新品种选育、柞蚕、桑蚕病虫鸟兽害防治、桑树栽培技术与推广、柞蚕副产物综合利用研究等。2004年在吉林省蚕业科学研究所的基础上，经批准又设立了吉林省农特产品研究院和吉林省北冬虫夏草研究中心，研究领域在蚕业研究的基础上拓展到农特新产品、蛹虫草、新技术、新资源、生物工程、保健食品、滋补营养品的研究。
