医院毗邻泰山景区，占地235亩，建筑面积21.8万m2（医疗用房12.26万m2），是一所具有80余年建院历史,集预防、医疗、保健、教学、科研于一体，具有较强实力的现代化综合性三级甲等医院。医院现有1013人，展开床位1000张，实际运行床位650张左右，医疗设备总值2.4亿余元，是驻地及周边地区应对重大突发公共卫生事件的骨干力量。
医院成立于1938年6月，前身为八路军鲁中后方医院，先后参加过莱芜、孟良崮、济南、淮海等重大战役，1949年进驻徐州，1954年定番号为第88医院，1960年确定为中心医院，1979年从徐州迁至泰安，1993年首批通过全军三级甲等医院评审，期间多次转变隶属关系。2016年9月，转隶沈阳联勤保障中心，2018年11月2日，与原济南军区总医院、第148医院、第456医院调整组建为解放军联勤保障部队第960医院。 2022年9月23日，医院管理运营权移交至中国融通医疗健康集团公司，定名为泰安八十八医院。
