兴国灰鹅原种场创建于1986年，属国家全民所有制事业单位，实行企业管理。场址设在埠头乡塘坝上，地处兴国县城南5km的平江河畔，叁面临水，周围1km内没有农户和其他单位，进场公路全部为水泥路面，交通便利，环境优美，是一个理想的得天独厚的保种选育场所。现有种鹅核心群1200羽，每年向社会提供优质种苗2万羽以上。
