茂谷柑该品种适应性广，抗病力强，座果密，产量高，进入挂果期早，丰产期亩产可达5000—6000公斤左右。皮薄艳丽，品质特别好，果形扁圆形，平均单果重150克，正逢春节上市，如成熟不采收延续到3月份左右上市，品质色度更好，属淡季水果，在台湾属*品种。
