The Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University (the Fifth Clinical College of Guangzhou Medical University), founded in 1957, is now a directly affiliated hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, a Grade III Level A comprehensive hospital, a sub-center of the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases, and a national demonstration hospital for further improving medical services. The hospital currently has a building area of 85,600 square meters and 1,200 approved beds. The hospital has a complete range of specialties, with 4 key clinical specialties of Guangdong Province (general surgery, urology, oncology, and rehabilitation medicine). It serves as the supporting unit of the Guangzhou Rehabilitation Medicine Medical Quality Control Center, the construction unit of Guangzhou Key Nursing Specialty, and the supporting unit of the Huangpu District Blood Purification Quality Control Center and the Blood Purification Quality Control Center. In recent years, the hospital has focused on building rehabilitation center, urology center, blood center, heart center, and tumor center, promoting the coordinated and high-quality development of various specialties. The hospital continues to advance the construction of the critical and severe illness treatment system, having successively become the first nationally certified chest pain center in Huangpu District, the Guangzhou Regional Emergency Medical Center (Eastern Area), and the designated medical security hospital for the 15th National Games and the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 8th National Special Olympic Games in Guangzhou.
