南海实验学校是舟山市教育局于2001年9月创办的从幼儿园到高中的全寄宿制素质教育示范学校。占地21.73公顷（326亩），建筑面积10万平方米，总投资2.3亿元。教育设施按国内一流水准配置，拥有1.5万平方米的中心艺术广场、8万平方米的校园绿化带，寓温水游泳池、灯光球场、体操房、舞蹈房、乒乓房于一体的大型综合体育馆，大型会议中心、智能图书馆、电子阅览室、海洋人文馆、演播厅等一应俱全，是目前舟山市投资*多、规模*大、设施*好、师资*强的现代化中小学校。 学校现有教职员工600余名，4500名在校生。
