企业的前身是阳谷磷肥厂，始建于1976年年产过磷酸钙6000吨，1989年扩建为过磷酸钙5万吨，新上磷酸一铵一套年产3万吨，1995年再上4万吨硫酸、6万吨水泥项目，并改名为鲁西化工总厂。由于市场不景气，企业经营不景气，而后被鲁西化工集团兼并，进行了扩建将3万吨磷酸一铵扩建为30万吨磷基复合肥，后又改名为鲁西化工第五化肥厂。
