Shanghai Putuo District Central Hospital

Shanghai Putuo District Central Hospital (Putuo Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine) was founded in 1957. In 2000, it became a member of the Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital Medical Group. In 2004, it became a teaching hospital of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2010, it became a tertiary Grade B comprehensive hospital, and is a large medical center integrating medical care, teaching, research, and prevention. As of May 2018, the hospital had total assets of 939 million yuan, medical equipment valued at 362 million yuan, covering an area of 26,700 square meters, with 1,050 approved beds and 1,070 open beds. Annual discharges were 48,000 patients, annual surgeries exceeded 24,700 cases, and annual outpatient and emergency visits reached 2.04 million. The hospital currently employs 2,000 staff, including 1,732 medical technicians, 253 with senior professional titles, and physicians with master's degrees or above accounting for 56.4%. There are 141 master's supervisors, 9 doctoral supervisors, 14 professors, 16 part-time professors, 21 associate professors, 5 part-time associate professors, 9 recipients of the State Council Special Allowance, and 1 Shanghai renowned traditional Chinese medicine practitioner. The hospital has 4 national key disciplines (specialties); 4 Shanghai key medical specialties; 48 National Natural Science Foundation projects, 45 Shanghai Municipal Education Commission projects, and 148 personnel trained under city-level or above talent development plans; 42 science and technology awards at or above the municipal and departmental level, and 81 national patents. The hospital has been honored as a National Civilized Unit (four consecutive titles), recipient of the National May 1st Labor Medal, National March 8th Red Banner Collective, National Advanced Collective in the Pharmaceutical and Health System, National Model Hospital for Management Innovation, National Advanced Unit for Political Thought Work in the Health System, National Hospital Humanistic Management Honor Award, National Excellent Achievement Award for Hospital (Health) Cultural Construction, National Women's Civilization Post, National Model Staff Home for Science, Education, Culture, Health, and Sports, National Advanced Collective for Political Thought Work in Provincial Hospitals, and a Model Unit for Resource-Saving Public Institutions, among other national honors. It has also been awarded the title of Shanghai Civilized Unit (thirteen consecutive titles).
