重庆市交通规划勘察设计院 于1984年10月，隶属重庆市交通委员会。当时为重庆市公路勘察设计所，1990年更名为重庆市公路勘察设计研究所，1994年更名为重庆市公路勘察设计研究院，2003年更名为重庆交通规划勘察设计院。 1994年获交通工程设计乙级证书，建筑工程设计丙级证书； 1999年获交通（公路、桥隧）工程设计甲级证书，获交通（公路、桥隧除外）工程设计乙级证书； 2000年获得通过ISO9001标准质量体系认证。 2001年为适应市场经济 和行业管理体制改革的需要，依据《建设工程勘察设计管理条例》和《建设工程勘察和设计单位资质管理规定》， 进行了 性质 审查核定 。 国家交通部、建设部、 市建委通过对我院的资力和信誉、技术力量、技术水平、技术装备及应用水平、管理水平、 成果的全面审查，重新核定通过我院为： 公路行业（公路、特大桥梁、特大隧道）甲级； 公路勘察 类岩土工程、工程测量甲级； 水运行业乙级； 公路行业（交通工程）乙级。
