Shanghai E&T International Co., Ltd. was established on July 28, 2001, as a joint-stock enterprise initiated by 10 entities including Shanghai Information Investment Co., Ltd. and Shanghai International Port Group, based on the decision of the municipal government and with full support from the government. After a complete market-oriented operation process, it integrated the business, market, and customer resources, as well as the strong technical and management teams of three reputable enterprises: the former Shanghai EDI Center, Shanghai Port and Shipping EDI Center, and Shanghai Economy and Trade Network Technology Co., Ltd. E&T International is authorized by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government to be the operating entity responsible for the construction and operation of the Shanghai Electronic Port Platform and the Shanghai Port and Shipping EDI Center Platform.
E&T International primarily serves the rapidly growing import/export and logistics enterprises at Shanghai Port. Focusing on the design, development, and operation of unified platforms for port government regulation, logistics information, and e-commerce, it covers four major areas: trade, regulation, logistics, and payment. It is committed to promoting the development and application of information technology in various aspects of international trade and economy. Since its establishment, the company has undertaken the construction of a series of major municipal projects, including the "Shanghai Customs Clearance Platform," "Shanghai Electronic Port Platform," "Shanghai Export Processing Zone Networked Supervision System," "Yangshan Comprehensive Information Service Platform," "Shanghai World Expo Logistics Management Information System," and "Pudong Airport Logistics Park Information System." By the end of 2012, E&T International operated 84 platform services or systems, processing 200 million electronic documents annually. The Shanghai Electronic Port Platform has become the largest local port informatization platform in China.
To date, the company has a carrier-grade data center of 1,100 square meters and a remote disaster recovery backup center of 600 square meters. The platform network connects major port regulatory units such as customs, inspection and quarantine, maritime affairs, border inspection, and transportation ports. Through the Shanghai government extranet, it achieves network interconnection with industry and commerce, taxation, quality inspection, state-owned assets, commerce, foreign exchange, and other units, and also enables network access for 15 financial institutions. The network covers Shanghai seaports, airports, and all special supervision areas, extends to the Yangtze River Delta and the Yangtze River basin, and interconnects with logistics information networks in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and other Pan-Asian regions.
Over the past decade since its establishment, E&T International's construction achievements have been repeatedly affirmed by important national and local leaders such as Wu Yi. The company has received multiple awards over the years, including "National Advanced Collective in the Information Industry," "National Advanced Collective in Logistics," "Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award," and "Shanghai Information Service Industry Outstanding Contribution Award."
