China Mobile Research Institute

China Mobile Research Institute (referred to as the Institute) is the core R&D institution of China Mobile's scientific and technological innovation system. Aiming to be the 'best-in-class information service technology innovation engine', it serves as one of the two main forces in strengthening national strategic technological strength and corporate technological innovation. Its research fields cover wireless, network, services, security, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, testing, think tank research on strategy, market, industry, and frontier technologies. China Mobile Research Institute actively undertakes major scientific and technological projects of central state-owned enterprises, having cumulatively undertaken over 200 national projects including major national science and technology special projects, and hosts national-level innovation platforms such as the 'National Engineering Research Center for New Generation Mobile Information and Communication Technology' and the 'National New Generation Artificial Intelligence Open Innovation Platform for Smart Networks'. It has played a significant role in China's mobile communication technology achieving '1G gap, 2G following, 3G breakthrough, 4G running in parallel, and 5G leading'. It innovatively proposed the concept of computing power networks, which has gained widespread recognition and has been elevated to a major national strategy. It leads the development of optical communication technology, establishes the 'Jiutian' AI research special zone, and has launched the Jiutian foundation large model and multiple industry-specific large models, forging itself into an AI national team of central enterprises, with its digital and intelligent capabilities widely applied in fields such as networks, marketing, and management.
