清华大学核能与新能源技术研究院（简称核研院），是我国高等学府*大的实体研究院，从事以核为主多学科综合的战略性高技术研究。全院占地1000亩，有10万平米实验室和科研用房，3座实验反应堆。现有17个研究室，11个学科方向，正式职工约500名，合同制工作人员260人，研究生230人，3名院士， 60名研究员。核研院在模块化球床高温气冷堆、分离法高放废液处理、钴60集装箱检测系统等研发方面达到国际先进水平，在新能源、环境、材料等领域具有很强的实力。
