国电大武口发电厂位于宁夏北部"塞上煤城"-石嘴山市。1987年11月四台机组全部建成投产。设计总装机容量4×100MW。现有职工1904人。
按照国家发展循环经济和节能减排的总体要求，2007年国电大武口发电厂积极推进2×300MW"上大压小"热电联产机组项目，现已完成可行性研究报告， 2008年初开工建设。同时2×300MW CFB机组（煤矸石电厂）资源综合利用扩建工程也在积极推进中，现已完成了初步可行性报告的审查，并且列入了宁夏回族自治区、西北电网有限公司和宁夏电力公司"十一五"发展规划以及中国国电集团公司"十一五"初电源开工项目规划中。2009年国家发改委核准已开工建设。
