Shanghai Qingpu District Central Hospital

The Qingpu Branch of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, located in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, has a history of over 70 years. Formerly known as the Hospital of the Qingpu Branch of the Red Cross Society of China, it is a comprehensive hospital in the western part of Shanghai integrating medical care, teaching, scientific research, and prevention. Through the construction of a tertiary hospital, it has now developed into a construction unit of the regional medical center of Shanghai, a leading unit of the compact urban medical group, and a pilot unit for high-quality development of public hospitals in Shanghai. In November 2021, it was established as an affiliated hospital of Fudan University.

The hospital has always attached importance to the coordinated development of medical education and research, striving to build a first-class research hospital. In close cooperation with Fudan University, it invites top experts from various specialties to guide its work. It has built a first-class medical research center covering about 1000 square meters, currently equipped with confocal laser scanning microscopes, Seahorse energy metabolism analyzers, real-time PCR instruments, PCR thermal cyclers, Western blot systems, and protein immunoblot imaging and analysis systems, enabling experiments in molecular biology, cell biology, proteomics, etc., and undertaking research projects at various levels including national natural science and municipal science and technology commissions. It is a young, open, and inclusive academic platform. The hospital maintains stable investment in the laboratory and will build more technical platforms in the future to support high-quality development. According to the national health plan, it actively strives to become a high-level medical education and research center in the western part of Shanghai. In 2020, the hospital was approved as one of the first batch of regional medical centers in Shanghai, entering a new stage of coordinated, balanced, and transformational development. It undertakes medical security for international sports events such as the China International Import Expo, the Giro d'Italia cycling race, and the World Chinese Dragon Boat Race, as well as medical security for the Huawei Qingpu R&D Center. It has a comprehensive physician training system. It has 12 doctoral supervisors and master's supervisors from Fudan University, and has established a branch station for the postdoctoral research mobile station of clinical medicine at Fudan University. Each research group not only focuses on current hot topics but also leverages the clinical resource advantages of an affiliated hospital of Fudan University, closely integrating basic and clinical research, and linking basic research with translation. It provides top-tier domestic and international specialized and university training platforms, with incentive mechanisms for academic qualification improvement and skill enhancement. It has a standardized residency training base for general practitioners, and standardized training bases for emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and assistant general practitioners, as well as one of the first batch of standardized on-the-job training bases for community clinical pharmacists, undertaking internship, teaching, and instructional tasks for multiple medical schools.

The hospital focuses on six major centers as the key for discipline development: the Maternal and Child Center, the Nephrology Dialysis Center, the Trauma Emergency Center, the Endoscopic Minimally Invasive Center, the Chest Pain Center, and the Stroke Center. Against the background of deepening public hospital reform and vigorously promoting the construction of medical consortia, it has joined the Fudan University Medical Consortium, accelerated the construction of the talent team, accelerated specialty development, consolidated and strengthened the regional medical center, based in Qingpu and radiating to the Yangtze River Delta region, striving to build the hospital into a modern comprehensive hospital, continuously making new contributions to improving people's health and writing a new chapter for the health of Qingpu.
