公司创建于1968年，原名四川省长征制药厂，1992年经股份制改造设立四川长征制药股份有限公司。
公司地处四川西南，座落在乐山市境内，位于岷江、青衣江、大渡河三江合流之处，毗邻世界遗产乐山大佛和峨眉山。
公司经营范围涉及生物发酵、化学合成、动物保健、制药机械等领域，主要从事抗生素的研发和生产，现有抗生素、制剂、合成药、制药机械等系列产品150多个，是中国西南地区大型抗生素生产企业。四十多年来，公司规模不断壮大，经营范围不断拓宽，已由一家产权结构单一的工厂，发展为拥有三家子公司、多元化发展的外向型企业。
