Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Baosteel Engineering") is a wholly-owned specialized engineering and technology platform company of China Baowu Steel Group Corporation Limited, and is a core component of the "Smart Services" segment within China Baowu's "One Base, Five Elements" strategy. It plays an important role in China Baowu's technological innovation system of "research and development, engineering integration, and continuous improvement." Headquartered in Shanghai, China, it has a registered capital of 2.83 billion RMB. Over the past decades, Baosteel Engineering has provided close services to China Baowu's steel main business, implemented upgrades of engineering technology and equipment industry, closely accompanied the leapfrog development of the steel main business, and simultaneously achieved its own capability leap from small to large, from point/segment/region to full-process steel engineering technology, reaching domestic first-class levels in engineering technology fields such as coking, converter steelmaking, slab continuous casting, long products, and cold rolling. Meanwhile, it has also achieved robust growth in engineering technology capabilities in fields such as green building engineering, green energy conservation and environmental protection, and intelligent industrial production lines. The predecessor of Baosteel Engineering was Shanghai Baosteel Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., restructured from the former Baosteel Equipment Manufacturing Department. In 2004, it absorbed and merged with Shanghai Metallurgical Design and Research Institute and Baosteel Design and Research Institute. In order to better integrate engineering technology system resources and enhance its capability to serve the steel main business, the former Baosteel Group further absorbed and integrated relevant business units to establish Baosteel Engineering & Technology Group Co., Ltd., which was officially inaugurated on April 16, 2010. In 2016, China Baowu restored the establishment of the Design Institute, and the China Baowu Design Institute and Baosteel Engineering operated under a "two plates, one team" mechanism, clarifying that the Design Institute performs duties as a department of China Baowu's headquarters. In September 2018, Xinjiang Steel Design Institute officially joined Baosteel Engineering; in January 2020, Baosteel Engineering integrated and managed units such as Masteel Design Institute; in April 2021, Baosteel Engineering managed units such as KISC Design Institute, entering a new development stage with a fresh stance. Baosteel Engineering can provide full-process engineering technology services including planning consultation, surveying and mapping, design and construction, project management, and engineering supervision, as well as specialized engineering service products characterized by low carbon, green, and smart features. Its service fields mainly cover full-process steel engineering technology, urban construction, energy conservation and environmental protection, and smart manufacturing. Over the past decades, Baosteel Engineering has accumulated rich engineering technology service capabilities while serving China Baowu's steel main business, and has successively participated in the construction and renovation of premium steel production lines for famous domestic steel enterprises such as Angang, Shougang, Shagang, HBIS, Shangang, Sangang, Donghai Steel, Liugang, Valin, and Sinosteel, with achievements spanning all provinces, municipalities directly under the central government, and autonomous regions nationwide. Its overseas market achievements have expanded to more than 20 countries and regions including South Korea, India, Japan, Brazil, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Namibia, and Russia. As of May 2022, Baosteel Engineering has more than 1,800 active employees, of whom over 1,500 hold bachelor's degrees or above, over 1,300 hold intermediate or senior technical titles, and over 500 hold various national registered practice qualifications. Five employees have been awarded honors such as China Baowu Engineering Scientist, Top Talent of Baoshan District, Shanghai, and Shanghai Excellent Technical Leader, and three employees have been recognized as top talent under Anhui Province's "538 Talent Project" for provincial enterprises, while five employees enjoy special government allowances from the State Council. In recent years, Baosteel Engineering has received recognition and trust from society and clients, earning honors such as Shanghai Excellent Demonstration Enterprise in Producer Services, Shanghai Survey and Design Industry Innovation Model Enterprise, and Outstanding Team in Shanghai Key Project Merit Competition. More than a hundred engineering projects have won national metallurgical industry excellent engineering design awards, the "13th Five-Year Plan" Steel Industry Innovation Project Award, and Metallurgical Science and Technology Award, among other domestic and international industry-specific awards, and many technologies have filled domestic gaps. In recent years, seven employees have received honors such as the National "May 1" Labor Medal, National March 8 Red Banner Holder, Shanghai Model Worker, and Central Enterprise Model Worker. Standing at a new historical starting point, Baosteel Engineering must inherit the engineering management and technical capabilities accumulated over 130 years of China China Baowu's development, continuing to play its role as a specialized engineering technology platform company in the construction of China Baowu's strategic goals and capability building as a state-owned capital investment company.
