福建农林大学东方学院于2002年由福建农林大学申办，2003年底经国家教育部首批批准为实施普通高等学校全日制本科教育的 独立学院。
学院经过十几年的发展与建设已具备较高办学水平，现设有经济系、管理系、会计系、艺术设计系、信息工程系、文法系6个系及1个公共基础教学部，26个本科专业（含专业方向），在校生9000多人。中国校友会网等机构公布的2014年中国独立学院排行榜，我院为全国百强独立院校。学院坐落在福建省会城市—福州市马尾琅岐新区，校园依山傍海、山水辉映、环境优美。学院永泰新校区毗邻福州大学城，占地近800亩，2017年10月份正式投入使用。
