翁源蓄电池项目是广东省电子机械集团在经营铅酸蓄电池出口贸易和切入铅酸蓄电池生产原材料贸易取得成功的基础上，拟通过建设铅酸蓄电池生产基地，形成产、供、销三位一体的经济实体，进一步控制铅酸蓄电池的生产环节，打造自主品牌，扩大出口市场，为集团公司寻求新的经济增长点而由电子机械集团以及机械研究所于二00八年合资筹建的，于二00九年四月投入试产。
