The predecessor of China Communications Construction Group Design Institute Co., Ltd. Third Branch was China Communications Construction Wuhan Design Institute, established in 1981, located at No. 784 Jiefang Avenue, Wuhan City, Hubei Province. China Communications Construction Group Design Institute Co., Ltd. (formerly China Communications Construction Beijing Consulting Design Co., Ltd.) is a consulting design company formally registered with the Beijing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce after corporate restructuring, belonging to the six design institutes established in the 1970s under China Communications Construction Group Co., Ltd. It is a comprehensive design unit with relatively large scale and complete specialties in China's communications industry. The company holds a Grade A qualification certificate for communications engineering survey, a Grade A qualification certificate for communications engineering design, and a Grade A qualification certificate for special engineering (intelligent building) design issued by the Ministry of Construction; a Grade A qualification certificate for communications engineering consulting issued by the National Development and Reform Commission; a Grade A qualification certificate for communications information network system integration enterprise issued by the Ministry of Information Industry; and a high-tech enterprise certification certificate issued by the Beijing Science and Technology Commission. In August 2003, it passed the national ISO 9001-2000 quality management system certification, and in November 2003, it passed the national ISO 14001 environmental management system certification. The company headquarters is located in Beijing, with four design institutes, four branches, one research institute (with four specialized research centers), and one international business department. The Third Branch has three design departments: Transmission Department, Wireless Department, and Data Switching Department. Its business scope includes: survey and design of various communications projects such as wired communication transmission, mobile communication, microwave communication, satellite communication, program-controlled switching, data networks, broadband access, communication power supplies, intelligent buildings, and integrated cabling; as well as technical consulting for integrated communication networks and specialized communication networks, project bidding, feasibility studies, business development planning, software development, telecommunications technical services, computer network system integration, communications engineering technology development, and communication protection technology research. Since its establishment, the company has completed many large and medium-sized national key projects in the posts and telecommunications industry. Major design projects involve China Unicom, China Telecom, China Mobile, petroleum, chemical, coal, broadcasting and other enterprises and institutions.
