Chongqing University Press is a national key university press directly under the Ministry of Education and one of the Top 100 Publishers.
Chongqing University Press, as a national key university press directly under the Ministry of Education, a national first-level publisher, a "National Top 100 Publishing Unit", and a publishing base for higher education textbooks and vocational textbooks designated by the Ministry of Education, is rooted in a comprehensive institution of higher learning with a long history. Relying on the disciplinary advantages of Chongqing University, and under the leadership of the Ministry of Education and the General Administration of Press and Publication, since its establishment in January 1985, it has always adhered to the correct publishing direction. Through more than twenty years of trials and hardships, advancing step by step, it has continued to grow and develop, starting a business amid hardship, forging ahead in reform, and developing through competition, gradually creating a favorable situation of sustained, healthy, and stable development. Chongqing University Press has been successively rated as an "Advanced Collective in the Press and Publication System" and an "Advanced Collective in National Textbook Construction." Through continuous summarization, the press decisively put forward the guideline of "one main body and two wings," that is, taking the publication of textbooks and academic monographs as the main body, and taking the publication of books reflecting emerging science and technology and the characteristics of the times as the two wings. In accordance with the dominance of the disciplinary system and the demands of the book market, Chongqing University Press reintegrated and reorganized its original structure, separately establishing the Science and Engineering Branch, the Science and Technology Branch, the Economics and Management Branch, the Social Sciences and Humanities Branch, the Foreign Languages Branch, the Electronic and Audio-Visual Publishing House, and the International Cooperation Department, and set clear requirements for the positioning of each branch. At the same time, it also carried out bold adjustments to other production and management departments. Reform and adjustment brought vitality to the development of the press. Today, Chongqing University Press is no longer limited to serving universities only in Southwest and South China; its books and textbooks have spread throughout the country.
