Hunan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital

Hunan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital is located at the intersection of Furong Road and Xiangchun Road in Changsha City. Founded in 1947, it has a history of more than 50 years and is one of the earliest provincial-level maternal and child health institutions established in China. According to statistics, since its establishment, more than 100,000 new lives have been born at Hunan Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital, and many families in Changsha have had three generations born here. [1] After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the hospital followed the direction of "taking health care as the center and combining health care with clinical practice" and actively carried out various professional tasks. The hospital has 248 beds, an annual outpatient volume of about 120,000 visits, and an annual inpatient volume of about 10,000 admissions. The hospital has 499 employees, 70% of whom are medical technical personnel, including 105 intermediate and senior professionals. The hospital is divided into a health care department and a clinical department. The health care department is responsible for women's and children's health care across the province, premarital health care, family planning technical guidance, professional training for maternal and child health personnel, health education, maternal and child health information statistics, and technical guidance tasks under the Maternal and Infant Health Care Law. The clinical department includes obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, reproductive health, traditional Chinese medicine gynecology, internal medicine, surgery, and anesthesiology. Outpatient services include gynecological oncology, breast specialty, gynecology, obstetrics, women's health care, child rehabilitation, oral health care, and eye health care. In 1983, the hospital was designated by the Ministry of Health as a national training base for maternal and child health personnel; in 1992, it was designated as a teaching base of Tongji Medical University; and in 1995, it was awarded the title of "Baby-Friendly Hospital" by the Ministry of Health, UNICEF, and the World Health Organization. The hospital has always attached importance to external exchanges and technical cooperation and has cooperated several times with the World Health Organization, the United Nations Population Fund, and UNICEF on multiple projects. At present, it is carrying out the technical cooperation project "1996-1999 China-Finland Neonatal Disease Screening" with the Finnish company Wallac, striving to contribute to the health care of women and children.
