Cisen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. is a comprehensive domestic chemical pharmaceutical manufacturer and a joint-stock enterprise, with three wholly-owned subsidiaries: Shandong Chenlong Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Cisen Fodu Pharmaceutical (Wenshang) Co., Ltd., and Beijing Cisen Huizhi Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., as well as other equity-participating subsidiaries. The company originated from Jining No.3 Pharmaceutical Factory, was restructured into Shandong Lukang Cisen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 1998, and was officially renamed Cisen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in 2011.
The company is now a nationally recognized enterprise technology center, Vice-President Unit of China Pharmaceutical Industry Association, one of the Top 100 Pharmaceutical Enterprises in China, a high-tech enterprise, a national contract-honoring and credit-keeping enterprise, and hosts a postdoctoral research workstation and a Shandong Province Taishan Scholar pharmacy special post unit. It also has the Shandong Province Antibiotic Engineering Technology Research Center and the Shandong Province Intravenous Nutrition Large-Volume Injection Engineering Laboratory. The company covers an area of over 2,000 mu, employs more than 3,000 people, including over 1,000 professional and technical personnel, and has total assets of 3 billion RMB.
Cisen Pharmaceutical takes it as its mission to safeguard and improve the health and quality of life of patients, investing 6% of sales revenue annually in scientific research and development, committed to independent research, development, and production of drugs that fill domestic gaps. It has established long-term cooperation with research institutions such as China Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Shandong University, Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, Shandong Pharmaceutical Industry Research Institute, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Academy of Military Medical Sciences, successfully following a path of "industry-university-research collaborative innovation." It has successfully developed over 60 national new drugs, including 2 Class 1 new drugs, 8 Class 2 new drugs, and 36 Class 4 new drugs; more than 80 new products are under development, with 6 Class 1.1 new drugs. Among the successfully developed products, 5 varieties have won provincial and municipal science and technology progress awards, 2 have been listed as national key new products, 18 varieties have passed provincial appraisal, and 6 have been included in the Shandong Province High-tech Product Catalog. Among them, adefovir dipivoxil (raw material and tablets), independently developed by Cisen Pharmaceutical, has obtained a National Class 1 New Drug Certificate, won the First Prize of Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award, and received support from the National Ministry of Science and Technology, provincial and municipal science and technology innovation funds. The successful development of this drug represents a major breakthrough in China's independent research and development of hepatitis B treatment drugs, which is of great significance for promoting technological progress in China's pharmaceutical industry, accelerating the industrialization of high-tech achievements, and enhancing the technological innovation capability and international competitiveness of China's biomedical industry. It will also be the engine for further enhancing the Cisen brand.
