Peking Union Medical College Hospital

Peking Union Medical College Hospital is a large comprehensive hospital located in Dongcheng District, Beijing, integrating medical care, scientific research, and teaching. It is affiliated with Peking Union Medical College (renamed from Peking Union Medical College in 2006), now part of Tsinghua University School of Medicine, serving as its clinical medical college and also as the clinical research institute of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. It is one of the technical guidance centers designated by the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China for the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and complicated diseases. Peking Union Medical College Hospital enjoys a prestigious reputation both in China and globally. The hospital was established in 1921. The current president is Zhao Yupei. Peking Union Medical College Hospital was the earliest unit in China to undertake medical services for foreign guests. The hospital has specially set up outpatient departments for foreigners and senior officials, with dedicated wards for high-ranking officials, foreigners, and special needs. On July 28, 2006, it was designated by the Chinese Olympic Committee as the "Designated Hospital for National Team Athletes' Medical Services." On November 11, 2017, at a press conference, the Fudan University Hospital Management Institute officially released the "2016 Annual China Hospital Rankings" and the "2016 Annual China Hospital Specialty Reputation Rankings," with Peking Union Medical College Hospital ranking first. On December 4, 2018, it was announced that the hospital was listed by the National Health Commission as one of the first batch of pilot hospitals for multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment of tumors. On November 10, 2019, the Fudan version of the "2018 Annual China Hospital Rankings" was released, with Peking Union Medical College Hospital ranking first.
