Tsingtao Brewery Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tsingtao Brewery") was formerly the Germanic Beer Company Qingdao Stock Company, jointly founded in Qingdao in August 1903 by German and British merchants. It is one of China's oldest beer manufacturers, an official sponsor of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and currently holds a brand value of 80.585 billion yuan, ranking first in China's beer industry and among the world's top 500 brands.
As of the end of 2012, Tsingtao Brewery had 59 beer production plants across 20 provinces and cities in China. In 2012, the company completed beer sales of 7.9 million kiloliters, a year-on-year increase of 10.48%; annual operating revenue reached 25.782 billion yuan, up 11.33% year-on-year; net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company was 1.759 billion yuan, up 1.20% year-on-year. In June and July alone, monthly sales exceeded one million kiloliters, making it the company with the strongest brand premium and profitability in China's beer industry.
Tsingtao Beer is exported to over 80 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Macau. According to the authoritative global beer industry report Barth Report, which ranks by production volume, Tsingtao Brewery is the world's sixth-largest beer manufacturer.
Tsingtao Brewery has won almost all gold awards in beer quality evaluations held since the founding of New China in 1949 and has received numerous gold awards in international competitions worldwide. In 2006, Tsingtao Brewery was listed 68th in Forbes' "2006 Global Most Trustworthy Companies 200"; in 2007, it won the Annual Award at the Asia Brand Ceremony; in 2005 (first edition) and 2008 (second edition), it was consecutively selected for the Financial Times' "Top 10 Chinese Brands". In 2009, Tsingtao Brewery received the Shanghai Stock Exchange's "Corporate Governance Special Award - 2009 Board of Directors Award"; in 2010, it won the "First China Green Gold Award", "2010 China Best Employer", and "China Corporate Social Responsibility Top 100"; in 2011, Tsingtao Brewery received honors such as "China's Most Respected Enterprise Decade Achievement Award", "International Carbon Gold Award", "Best Corporate Citizen", and "China Best Employer". In 2012, Tsingtao Brewery once again won the "Most Respected Enterprise" award, was listed among Fortune's "Most Admired Chinese Companies" seven times, and consecutively ranked on the "China Green Companies Top 100" for four years.
