2011年6月28日，长江财产保险公司的筹建申请获得中国保监会批准，注册资本为人民币12亿元。长江财险*家总部设在湖北省的法人财产保险机构。长江财产保险股份有限公司共有6家股东，其中，中国国电集团公司出资2.4亿元，占20%；武钢集团公司2.24亿元，占18.67%；中国电力工程顾问集团公司2亿元，占16.67%；湖北能源集团公司2亿元，占16.67%；国电资本控股有限公司1.68亿元，占14%；湖北联发投集团公司1.68亿元，占14%。2011年11月18日，长江财产保险股份有限公司正式开业。
