Collaborative Innovation Research Institute for Civil-Military Integration

The Collaborative Innovation Research Institute for Civil-Military Integration of the University of Science and Technology was established in October 2012, jointly founded by the University of Science and Technology and the Lvliang Municipal People's Government. It is an innovation platform for research and development and achievement transformation in military-civilian cooperation. Its purpose is to actively promote civil-military integration development, advance the industrialization of high-tech achievements, strengthen applied technology research and development, and cultivate and develop strategic emerging industries.
The institute has a Lvliang Cloud Computing Center as a fully-funded public institution under its jurisdiction, and has established the Lvliang Cloud Computing Operation Company (a state-owned enterprise) responsible for the market-oriented operation of cloud computing business. The Lvliang Cloud Computing Center officially began providing external services in June 2014 and has already achieved internationally first-class software and hardware configurations. The deployed "Tianhe-2" supercomputer system ranked third in the national Top100 high-performance computing rankings, creating widespread influence domestically. The center has cumulatively provided high-performance computing services to more than 160 research institutes and national core departments across the country, undertaken e-government cloud services for some provincial-level units, more than 170 municipal-level units in the city, and 13 counties (cities, districts) in Lvliang. The goal of becoming an important scientific and technological innovation platform in Shanxi and even North China has been initially realized.
