Chongqing Materials Research Institute Co., Ltd. (abbreviated as "CMRI") is a comprehensive research institution in China specializing in common basic technology research, applied technology research and industrialization development of functional materials for instruments and meters. Founded in 1961, it was formerly a Class I research institute directly under the Ministry of Machine Building Industry. In 1999, it was transformed into a technology-based enterprise and is now affiliated with China Machinery Industry Group Co., Ltd., a Fortune Global 500 company and a large directly-affiliated central enterprise. CMRI is the competent unit of China's instrument functional materials industry. It has strong capabilities in high-performance special alloys (corrosion-resistant alloys, high-temperature alloys, precision alloys, super stainless steel), rare and precious metals (Pt, PtRh, PtIr, WRe and other materials and products), sensitive materials and advanced sensors (temperature, liquid level, heating, rotational speed and other sensor materials and components, smart materials and structural systems), and holds a leading position in these fields. Approved by the state, CMRI has successively established the "National Engineering Technology Research Center for Instrument Functional Materials", a national enterprise technology center, and the National-Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for High-Performance Temperature Measurement Materials. It has also set up a "Postdoctoral Scientific Research Workstation" and a doctoral program in "Materials Physics and Chemistry". Meanwhile, it has established technological innovation platforms such as Chongqing's "Academician Expert Workstation", "Liangjiang Scholar Distinguished Professorship", and "Overseas Intellectuals Workstation", making it an important technological innovation platform in China's new materials field. The Chinese core academic journal "Functional Materials", the technical journal "Functional Materials Information", the "China Functional Materials and Applications Academic Conference", the "China Functional Materials Network" sponsored by CMRI, as well as the instrument functional materials societies, associations, industry product quality supervision and testing centers, and standardization committees affiliated with CMRI, actively carry out academic exchanges, personnel training, product quality supervision, quality arbitration, judicial appraisal and open services for the industry, and hold an important influence and position in the industry. CMRI has built a functional materials industrialization base in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area with a high starting point and obvious regional advantages. With the completion and gradual improvement of the functional materials industrialization base, CMRI's technological innovation capabilities and engineering and industrialization capabilities have been significantly enhanced. Currently, it undertakes more than 20 national key projects such as National Major Science and Technology Projects, National Key R&D Programs, import substitution, industrial foundation strengthening projects, and pre-research projects. At the same time, it undertakes a large number of autonomous development and supply tasks for key materials and components used in high-end equipment, showing a good development trend. CMRI has now established talent support programs for innovative and entrepreneurial scientific and technological talents, composite management talents, craftsman-type skilled talents, and young eagle-type reserve talents, and has set up 7 field innovation teams and 19 professional innovation teams.
