Aviation General Hospital of China Medical University

Founded in 1972, the Aviation General Hospital of China Medical University has developed over more than 40 years into a Grade III comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research and prevention. The hospital has one main campus, three outpatient departments and four community service stations, with medical services covering nearly 1 million people. It has become the Beiyuan Regional Medical Center, one of the ten major development regional medical centers planned by Beijing; a Baby-Friendly Hospital awarded by the United Nations and the Ministry of Health; a "National Trusted Demonstration Hospital" awarded by the Chinese Hospital Association; a "Safe Hospital" awarded by the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau; one of the first designated medical institutions for social medical insurance in Beijing; a National Smoke-Free Hospital; a Civilized Unit of Central State Organs; a non-directly affiliated hospital of China Medical University; and a teaching hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and the West China School of Stomatology of Sichuan University.
The hospital jointly established the "Beijing Institute of Translational Medicine, Chinese Academy of Sciences" with the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; cooperated with China Medical University to establish the Beijing Clinical College of China Medical University; was awarded the title of "One of the First Batch of Demonstration Wards for Standardized Cancer Pain Treatment of the Ministry of Health"; has Beijing's fifth neurology consultation center, one of the few consultation centers in Beijing; cooperated with the West China School of Stomatology to establish the "361 Branch of West China Hospital of Stomatology"; cooperated with the Qiminghu Training Center of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich to establish the "Aviation General Hospital German Qiminghu Dental Implant Training Center" and the "Asia-Pacific Training Center for Oral Implant Bone Management System of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich"; cooperated with Fuwai Hospital to jointly establish the "Cardiovascular Technology Training Center of Aviation General Hospital, Fuwai Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences"; and is a "Pain Diagnosis and Treatment Training Base of the Pain Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association" in Beijing. It can carry out medical projects of Grade III hospitals, some of which have reached the domestic advanced level. In early 2013, it successfully completed Asia's first cesarean section for a pregnant woman with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
The hospital covers a total area of about 28,600 square meters, with a building area of 73,075 square meters. The construction of the south district has been approved and will add 60,000 square meters of medical rooms, totaling 133,057 square meters. It has 1,000 authorized beds, with 723 actually open beds. The hospital has 1,022 medical technicians, including 171 with the title of associate chief physician or above, 30 doctoral degree holders and 196 master's degree holders.
The hospital introduced the renowned obstetrician and gynecologist Professor Gao Guolan, doctoral supervisor, vice chairman of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, deputy chairman of the Gynecological Oncology Professional Committee, standing committee member and secretary-general of the Oncology Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Association, and recipient of the National "May 1st Labor Medal", as its president, and invited Academician Fan Daiming, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and former president of the Fourth Military Medical University, as honorary president.
The hospital always puts medical quality and safety first. It has 40 clinical and medical technology departments with complete professional settings. It has a modern clean surgery department, intensive care medicine department, intravenous infusion configuration center and a large professional health management center. It is equipped with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), 320-slice high-end CT, linear accelerator and supporting intensity-modulated therapy equipment, digital subtraction angiography (DSA), digital radiography (DR), imported high-end color ultrasound diagnostic instruments, large biochemical analyzers, laparoscopes, hysteroscopes, arthroscopes, bronchoscopes, electronic gastroscopes, duodenoscopes, capsule endoscopes, nasal endoscopes, glass cutters, OCT, non-mydriatic cameras, dialysis machines, ureteroscopic lithotripters and ultrasound lithotripsy systems and other advanced modern diagnostic and treatment equipment, as well as intelligent building automatic control systems.
Obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology and other departments are key disciplines of the hospital, while stomatology, pain medicine, cerebrospinal fluid diseases and Luo's bone setting are characteristic specialties of the hospital. Relying on the strong strength of West China Stomatology, the stomatology department has developed into one of the oral healthcare centers in Beijing; by vigorously introducing discipline leaders, the hospital has established the country's first neurosurgical cerebrospinal fluid disease center and opened functional and minimally invasive neurosurgery wards, and the neurology discipline group has taken shape; the hospital, by combining talent introduction and training and strengthening domestic and international cooperation, has established a multidisciplinary pain medicine department, actively creating a comfortable medical system and promoting the formation of the brand of "Comfortable Medicine, Painless Hospital".
