The Hospital of University of Science and Technology was founded in 1953. It is a Grade II Class A comprehensive hospital integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, and healthcare. It is a designated medical institution for basic medical insurance for urban workers and urban residents at the provincial, municipal, and district levels, as well as the New Rural Cooperative Medical System.
The hospital covers an area of 40,000 square meters, with an inpatient building and an office building. It currently has 234 employees, including 62 with intermediate professional titles. It has 200 beds and over 30 clinical and medical technology departments. The annual outpatient (emergency) volume exceeds 160,000 visits, with 2,500 discharged patients and over 400 major and medium-sized surgeries. The hospital undertakes the medical support tasks for nearly 30,000 faculty, staff, and their families of the University of Science and Technology, a high-tech academic institution of the entire military. At the same time, it utilizes idle medical resources to provide health checkups and medical services to the public.
The outpatient and inpatient departments of the hospital are equipped with central air conditioning, central call systems, central oxygen supply, and a hospital management information system. They are also equipped with a series of advanced domestic and foreign instruments and equipment, including American-imported CT machines, X-ray machines, fully automatic biochemical analyzers, blood cell counters, automatic blood gas analyzers, B-ultrasound, color Doppler ultrasound, 24-hour dynamic electrocardiogram analyzers, remote ECG monitors, ventilators, hemodialysis machines, electrolytic analyzers, teeth whitening and orthodontic equipment, Japanese-imported prostate electrovaporization resectoscopes, video laparoscopes, ENT head and neck surgery comprehensive treatment units, polysomnography systems, microwave comprehensive treatment devices, fiberoptic ENT endoscopes, head-operated surgical tables, fully automatic biochemical analyzers, etc., providing strong support for diagnosis and treatment.
On the morning of June 18, 2011, the remote medicine site of the Chinese PLA General Hospital at the University of Science and Technology Hospital was officially opened. Thus, relying on the two-way remote medical service model of the site hospital, teachers and students of the University of Science and Technology can enjoy medical consultations and remote education and training services from famous experts and doctors of the Chinese PLA General Hospital, further enhancing the medical diagnosis and treatment level of the hospital and providing more powerful and high-quality medical and healthcare services for talent cultivation and scientific research.
In recent years, in response to the heavy teaching and research tasks of the university and the large number of senior intellectuals, the hospital has accelerated the pace of building a digital hospital. It has invested more than 3 million yuan to build an outpatient and emergency self-service registration system, a laboratory information system, a medical imaging communication system, etc., and established a high-speed, efficient, and safe medical information center, greatly improving the hospital's medical and healthcare service level and receiving praise from all teachers and students. In May of this year, after the new outpatient and physical examination building was completed and put into use, they established a remote medical service platform with the Chinese PLA General Hospital. President Chen Xiangda of the hospital introduced that after the opening of the remote medicine site of the Chinese PLA General Hospital at the University of Science and Technology Hospital, the hospital will rely on the medical informatization service platform, utilize the high-quality medical resources and strong technical support of the General Hospital, conduct consultations and treatments for difficult and severe cases, carry out remote medical education and training, academic lectures, case discussions, and other activities, promote the further improvement of the comprehensive medical service level of the university hospital, and provide high-quality and efficient medical and healthcare services for all teachers, students, and local people.
Vice President Guo Yucheng of the Chinese PLA General Hospital said that in recent years, following the work approach of "extending downward and integrating regions" in medical care, the hospital has actively carried out remote medicine to grassroots hospitals. It has now established remote networking with more than 1,300 military and civilian hospitals and opened more than 400 remote site hospitals in the military. In recent years, the Chinese PLA General Hospital has implemented more than 13,000 remote consultations, ranking first in the country and the military, with a satisfaction rate as high as 98.8%. It has carried out more than 900 remote education sessions, with an audience of more than 400,000 person-times, producing significant social benefits, strongly supporting the medical work of hospitals inside and outside the military, and promoting the improvement of grassroots medical levels.
After the opening ceremony of remote medicine on the 18th, six well-known medical experts from the Chinese PLA General Hospital conducted free clinic activities at the University of Science and Technology Hospital and engaged in medical academic exchanges with the medical staff of the hospital.
