国电万安水力发电厂位于江西省万安县城南2公里，赣江中游*的惶恐滩头，东临京九铁路，西接赣粤高速公路，南离江西南大门赣州市90公里，北距英雄城南昌市320公里。电站大坝全长1104米，*大坝高68米，总库容为22.16亿立方米，装机容量533兆瓦。以发电为主，兼有防洪、航运、灌溉、养殖等综合效益。
电厂组建于1989年3月14日，2002年12月29日电力体制改革后，为中国国电集团公司内部核算单位。现有5条220千伏、3条110千伏高压输电线路外送电源，北与吉安电网相连，南与赣州电网相通，是江西电网南北电力交换枢纽，调峰、调频、事故备用主力电厂。
