Since ABS began its operations in China in 1993 as a representative office, the company has experienced steady development. To expand its business in China more compliantly and effectively, the company transformed in 2013 into what is now the American Bureau of Shipping (China) Co., Ltd. The current Shanghai office serves as the headquarters for the Eastern Hemisphere operations. The company is known for being safe, professional, and efficient, with around 550 employees in China, of whom about 90% hold bachelor's degrees or above.
