Chongqing Institute of Engineering is a full-time ordinary undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, with engineering as its main focus, characterized by software and electronic information, and coordinated development of disciplines such as economics, management, and humanities and arts. The university has long adhered to the school-running model of "school-enterprise cooperation and industry-education integration," cultivating a large number of high-quality applied and technically skilled talents urgently needed by society in professional fields such as software engineering, network engineering, Internet of Things engineering, electronic information engineering, information security, cloud computing, digital media art, game animation design and production, e-commerce, marketing, financial management, and information services.
The university is located at Nanwenquan, a scenic area in the main urban area of Chongqing, and also has a Shuangqiao campus, located by the Longshui Lake in Chongqing Shuangqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone. The campus covers an area of about 760 mu, with a total building area of 350,000 square meters, and the library has a collection of more than 1.39 million books (including more than 590,000 e-books). The university has the School of Software and Computer Science, School of Electronics and Internet of Things, School of Intelligence and Automation, School of Animation and Digital Film and Television, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, School of Management, School of General Education, Engineering Training Center, and School of Continuing Education, offering 42 undergraduate (junior college) programs enrolling students nationwide, with nearly 15,000 full-time students.
The university currently has more than 670 full-time teachers, including more than 220 teachers with senior professional and technical titles (43 professors and more than 180 associate professors), accounting for more than 30% of the total number of full-time teachers; 343 full-time teachers with master's degrees or above (43 with doctoral degrees and 300 with master's degrees), accounting for more than 50% of the total number of full-time teachers; more than 180 "dual-qualified" teachers, accounting for more than 30% of the total number of professional course teachers. In addition, the university has employed 113 part-time internship mentors from front-line enterprises, 3 experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council, 1 national model teacher, and 5 provincial (municipal) level academic and technical leaders.
The university has modern teaching buildings, internship and training buildings, innovation and entrepreneurship buildings, a library building, a student service center, a standardized plastic football field, and a fully fiber-optic digital campus service system, etc. It has a network information center, academic lecture halls, a student quality education center, a student mental health education and counseling center, a student art center, a student innovation and entrepreneurship incubation base, etc. The university's "Software Engineering" undergraduate program and "Internet of Things Engineering" undergraduate program have been rated as municipal-level characteristic programs. The university's internship and training sites cover 33,450 square meters, with more than 30 public basic teaching laboratories in computer fundamentals, advanced mathematics, college physics, electrical and electronic fundamentals, and language teaching; more than 20 specialized experimental (training) teaching centers in Internet and cloud computing, software development and application, electronic engineering and Internet of Things, film and television production, game animation, engineering management, e-commerce, etc.; and more than 60 specialized comprehensive teaching experimental (training) laboratories in mobile terminal UI design, cloud systems, Internet of Things integration, automotive electronics, network protocol analysis, mobile application development, cloud storage and virtualization, embedded robot development, etc. To organize project-based and position-based internship and training teaching activities for senior students, the university has built an on-campus project-based engineering training center, with more than 20 specialized internship (training) sub-centers in Internet and cloud computing, software development and application, electronic engineering and Internet of Things, film and television production, game animation, engineering management, e-commerce, etc. The university has also built a number of municipal-level scientific research bases. The "Chongqing Digital Film and Television and New Media Engineering Technology Research Center" was approved by the Chongqing Science and Technology Commission to become a municipal-level engineering technology research center. The university's "Chinese Culture Animation R&D and Communication Center" was jointly approved by the Publicity Department of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, the Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Municipal Education Commission, and two other departments, becoming a Chongqing municipal-level science popularization base. The university's "Virtual Reality (VR) Applied Technology Research Team" was approved by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission to become a municipal-level university innovation team. The establishment of these centers and bases has provided strong support for the university's scientific research development and improved its ability to serve society.
The university's innovation and entrepreneurship park has been rated as "Chongqing Municipal College Student Entrepreneurship Demonstration Base" by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, "Chongqing Municipal College Student Micro-Enterprise Entrepreneurship Incubation Park" by the Chongqing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce, "Chongqing's First Batch of Maker Spaces" by the Chongqing Science and Technology Commission, and "Banan District Micro and Small Enterprise Incubation Park" by the Banan District Government; it has also been recognized as a youth entrepreneurship and employment internship base by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League. These high-standard demonstration bases have built a better platform for our university's college student innovation, entrepreneurship, and employment. In addition, according to the talent training needs of various majors, the university has adopted a school-enterprise cooperation model, introducing more than 30 enterprises such as Chongqing Wei Wang Film, HKC, and China Mobile Internet of Things to establish cooperative R&D and training bases on campus; it has cooperated with more than 200 well-known enterprises such as Accenture, China Mobile, State Grid, Taobao, Alibaba, JD.com, Walmart, Wahaha, MetLife, and H3C to build off-campus internship bases, so as to meet the needs of cultivating applied technical and skilled talents.
