Yakult Honsha Co., Ltd., founded in 1935 and established on April 9, 1955, has a history of over 70 years in producing and selling fermented dairy products. It is one of the world's leading manufacturers of fermented active lactic acid bacteria beverages.

As early as 1930, Yakult's founder began dedicating efforts to developing active lactic acid bacteria and bringing health to all humanity. Since then, Yakult has been guided by the philosophy of its founder, Dr. Minoru Shirota—"Preventive Medicine," "Healthy Intestine, Long Life," and "Health at the price of a postcard and a cigarette"—in directing its production and sales in Japan and globally. Currently, Yakult produces and sells its branded active lactic acid bacteria beverages in 28 countries and regions worldwide, with 25 million people receiving health from Yakult every day.

In 2001, Yakult entered the Chinese market and in the same year established Guangzhou Yili Duo Dairy Products Co., Ltd. as a joint venture, gaining strong market recognition. To better meet market demand and provide the freshest, highest-quality products, Yakult established Shanghai Yili Duo Dairy Products Co., Ltd. as a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2004, with its factory in Jiading District, Shanghai, commencing production in the second half of 2006. As Yakult gradually expanded in China, to better coordinate and plan all business divisions in the region, Yakult (China) Investment Co., Ltd. was established in Shanghai on April 12, 2005, as a wholly-owned subsidiary.

Yakult (China) Investment Co., Ltd. is responsible for legal investment in the fields of dairy products, lactic acid bacteria beverages, and related health foods in the Chinese market; providing services such as equipment procurement, foreign exchange balancing, employee training, internal personnel management, and technical support in production, sales, and market development to its invested enterprises; establishing R&D departments; distributing products manufactured by the parent company and invested enterprises; and offering after-sales services. Currently, Yakult (China) Investment Co., Ltd. has sales companies in Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinan, Qingdao, Yantai, Wuhan, Shenyang, Dalian, Fuzhou, and Xiamen.
