Chongqing Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation Group is a comprehensive platform designated by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for the city's expansion of opening-up and implementation of the "Going Global" strategy, and is a large key state-owned enterprise under the municipality. It is mainly engaged in international trade, domestic and overseas engineering contracting, and supporting financial services. It has 60 legal entity enterprises and more than 8,000 employees, with 19 branches in 18 countries and regions, maintaining close economic and trade business ties with more than 80 countries and regions. 45% of its engineering contracting and 28% of its import and export business cover countries along the "Belt and Road." Its entity credit has maintained AA+ stable for five consecutive years, ranking 197th in the Global Top 250 International Contractors (2022), 245th in the China Top 500 Service Enterprises (2022), and 117th in the China Top 500 Foreign Trade Enterprises (2020). At the 5th China International Import Expo, the Group signed import contracts worth US$750 million, with booth transaction value accounting for nearly 40% of the Chongqing delegation.
As one of the first foreign trade and economic enterprises to go abroad, after nearly 40 years of development, the Group has accumulated rich experience in trade, engineering, and investment, cultivated a large number of interdisciplinary international trade talents, and established a municipal-level postdoctoral research workstation. It has an annual import and export capacity of US$4 billion, driving more than 100 categories of "Made in China" products such as complete equipment, chemical and pharmaceutical products, and light industrial goods to the world. It has obtained customs AEO advanced certification, fuel oil import qualification, and bill-based hazardous chemicals operating qualification. It has built a Chongqing-Hong Kong-Singapore cross-border financing platform, becoming a pilot enterprise for cross-border capital pool local and foreign currency operations, the specific implementing entity for the central and western China RMB overseas fund pilot, Chongqing's window unit for opening up to Hong Kong, and the city's Hong Kong cross-border investment and financing platform. It created the Yumaotong foreign trade comprehensive service platform, based in the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle, radiating to the west and facing the whole country, providing a package of professional services for 33,000 online small and medium-sized enterprises; accelerating the creation of a characteristic agricultural product export platform, deeply cultivating production area resources in "13+2" provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, and boosting Tongnan lemons, Wujiang pickled mustard tubers, Fengjie navel oranges, Pixian douban, Yunnan grapes, and others to go abroad on a large scale. It built the Chongqing Western Land-Sea New Corridor Trade and Production Service Platform, promoting the first regular train for complete vehicle exports via the Land-Sea New Corridor. It created the national cross-border e-commerce company Yu'ou Cross-border (abbreviation: Yu'ou Cross-border, stock code: 873017), closely following the national strategic direction, focusing on cross-border import business, deeply cooperating with world-renowned leading enterprises such as Danone, introducing a rich variety of cross-border supply chains, and continuously leading industry innovation by providing full-link, omni-channel comprehensive import commodity services including brand marketing services, cross-border logistics and warehousing services, channel distribution and retail terminal services, and technical services, promoting high-quality industry development while bringing newer, more, and better global high-quality goods to Chinese consumers.
The Group has been contracting overseas engineering projects and undertaking foreign aid projects for nearly 40 years. Multiple projects have become industry benchmarks in their host countries. It has completed more than 200 projects in total, built 7 large foreign aid buildings, and constructed more than 5,000 kilometers of roads. It possesses qualifications including Special Grade for General Contracting of Building Construction, Malaysia G7 Grade Building Construction, Grade I Municipal Engineering, Dual A-Class Design (Building, Civil Air Defense), Triple A-Class Supervision (Road, Municipal, Building), Grade I Installation, and AAA credit for foreign contracting engineering enterprises. It is an enterprise with "three-access" qualifications for general contracting of national foreign aid complete projects, material projects, and technical projects. In recent years, it has newly opened markets in Bangladesh, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Rwanda, Ethiopia, and other countries, with annual newly signed overseas engineering contracts of US$200 million, accounting for about 30% of the city's total, accelerating the promotion of overseas engineering contracting and foreign labor cooperation to cover countries along the "Belt and Road." It has successively won titles such as China's Top 100 Most Growing Construction Enterprises, Chongqing Advanced Unit for Developing an Open Economy, Chongqing Best Credit Enterprise, as well as awards including the National May 1st Labor Medal and the Excellent Engineering Project Award in the National Labor Competition for Affordable Housing Construction.
