本公司原称“牡丹江天宇股份有限公司”由原牡丹江造纸厂现已改制更名为“牡丹江恒丰纸业集团有限责任公司”以定向募集方式设立的股份有限公司。本公司于1994年3月6日在黑龙江省工商行政管理局注册登记。1998年7月16日,黑龙江省经济体制改革委员会以黑体改复[1998]39号文件批准“牡丹江天宇股份有限公司”更名为“牡丹江恒丰纸业股份有限公司”。
2000年12月18日至2000年12月28日,本公司以上网定价发行方式向社会公众公开发行人民币普通股A股4000万股,并于2001年4月在上海证券交易所挂牌上市。
2005年11月25日,本公司实施了股权分置改革。
