The Shanghai Stock Exchange (English: ShanghaiStockExchange, Chinese abbreviation: 上交所) is one of the two stock exchanges in mainland China, founded on November 26, 1990, located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. On December 19, 1990, the Shanghai Stock Exchange officially started operations. As of the end of 2019, the number of listed companies on the Shanghai market reached 1,572, with a total market capitalization of 35.6 trillion yuan; in 2019, the cumulative stock trading volume was 54.4 trillion yuan, with an average daily turnover of 222.9 billion yuan, and total equity financing of 514.5 billion yuan; the bond market had 15,368 listed bonds, with a custody volume of 10.1 trillion yuan and cumulative turnover of 221.79 trillion yuan; the fund market had 292 listed funds, with cumulative turnover of 6.9 trillion yuan; and the derivatives market achieved cumulative turnover of 338.9 billion yuan for the year. The number of investor accounts in the Shanghai market has reached 243.98 million.
