China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited (CSSC) is a super-large state-owned key backbone enterprise established on October 14, 2019, following the decision of the Party Central Committee and the approval of the State Council, through the joint restructuring of the former China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) and the former China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC). It comprises 104 research institutes, enterprises, and listed companies, with total assets of RMB 890 billion and 220,000 employees. It possesses China's largest shipbuilding and repair bases and the most complete research and development capabilities for ships and supporting products. It can design and build marine and offshore equipment that complies with global classification society rules, international general technical standards, and safety conventions, making it the world's largest shipbuilding group. In October 1950, the Shipbuilding Industry Bureau of the Ministry of Heavy Industry of the Central People's Government was established, and it successively went through development stages including the Shipbuilding Industry Administration under the First Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Ninth Industry Bureau of the Third Ministry of Machinery Industry, the Sixth Ministry of Machinery Industry, the China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and its division into China State Shipbuilding Corporation and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.
