OmniVision Semiconductor (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. was established in January 2001 in Shanghai Songjiang Export Processing Zone (now the Comprehensive Bonded Zone). It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai Weier Co., Ltd. and OmniVision Technologies, Inc. (USA), and is a high-tech enterprise in the semiconductor integrated circuit industry. The company's registered capital is USD 276 million, with a total investment of approximately USD 400 million.
As an innovative technology provider of imaging system solutions, OmniVision Technologies is one of the top three camera chip suppliers in the world. It was privatized in 2016 and established Beijing OmniVision Technology Co., Ltd. In 2019, Shanghai Weier Semiconductor Co., Ltd. completed the acquisition of Beijing OmniVision Technology Co., Ltd. through a share issuance, forming the new OmniVision Group, which encompasses OmniVision Technologies, Shanghai Weier Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (stock code: 603501), and Beijing SuperPix Microelectronics Technology Co., Ltd.
OmniVision Technologies ships approximately 900 million image sensor chips annually. In 2020, in the CMOS field, it held a 16% market share in the smartphone market, a 40% market share in the security market, a 52% market share in emerging markets, an 89% market share in the medical market, and approximately a 31% market share in the automotive market.
OmniVision Semiconductor is OmniVision Technologies' chip process development and manufacturing base in China. Its main business includes the process development and manufacturing of CMOS image sensor chip testing, 12-inch high-pixel image sensor wafer testing, 12-inch high-pixel image sensor wafer reconfiguration, LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) projection display chips, and Camera Cube Chip (CCC) image sensing integrated chips. Among these, the technology level and market share of LCOS silicon-based liquid crystal projection display AR chips and CCC medical endoscope image chips rank among the world's leading positions.
