Bank of Nanjing was established on February 8, 1996. It is one of the 21 systemically important banks in China, a joint-stock commercial bank with independent legal person status, and a listed bank, operating under a unified legal person management system.
Bank of Nanjing adheres to the principle of development first. After two name changes, it introduced International Finance Corporation and BNP Paribas as shareholders in 2001 and 2005 respectively, becoming the first city commercial bank in China to initiate the listing guidance process and successfully listing on the main board in 2007. By the end of 2025, its total assets exceeded 3 trillion yuan, total deposits surpassed 1.67 trillion yuan, and total loans exceeded 1.42 trillion yuan. The bank achieved annual operating revenue of 55.5 billion yuan and net profit attributable to shareholders of the listed company of 21.8 billion yuan. It ranked 86th in The Banker magazine's "Top 1000 World Banks" ranking.
Bank of Nanjing strengthens strategic execution. With the vision of "building a first-class regional comprehensive financial service provider in China," it continuously aligns with major national and regional development strategies, focuses on doing well in the "five major financial articles," promotes steady and rapid business growth, continuously strengthens risk control, maintains stable and excellent asset quality, steadily improves operational efficiency, and significantly enhances overall strength. Bank of Nanjing deepens its institutional layout. Since establishing its first branch in 2007, cross-regional operations have progressed steadily, with branches successively set up in Taizhou, Shanghai, Wuxi, Beijing, Nantong, Hangzhou, Yangzhou, Suzhou, Changzhou, Yancheng, Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Suqian, Lianyungang, Jiangbei New Area, Xuzhou, and Huai'an, totaling 17 branches. In 2016, it achieved full coverage of Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and all district-level cities in Jiangsu Province. In 2023, it achieved full coverage of county-level outlets across Jiangsu Province.
Bank of Nanjing enriches its business layout. It pioneered the model in China where a city commercial bank takes equity stakes in other city commercial banks across regions, investing in Rizhao Bank and becoming its largest shareholder. It invested in Jiangsu Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. and Wuhu Jinsheng Rural Commercial Bank, and initiated the establishment of two village banks: Yixing Yangxian and Kunshan Lucheng. In 2013, it invested in establishing Xinyuan Fund Management Co., Ltd. In 2020, it wholly funded Nanjing Bank Wealth Management Co., Ltd. In 2022, it took controlling stake in Nanjing Bank BNP Paribas Consumer Finance Co., Ltd., steadily advancing on the path of comprehensive operation. In 2013, it initiated the establishment of Zijin Mountain • Xinhe Alliance, which currently has 133 formal member banks.
Bank of Nanjing courageously undertakes social responsibility. Practicing the corporate culture concept of "Responsible Finance, Harmonious Win-Win," it enables the benefits of finance to more broadly benefit society.
