扬州市弘扬中等专业学校前身系扬州市弘扬中学，扬州市弘扬中学始建于1994年,至今已走过二十多个春秋。学校由原来扬州中学的一批教育行家办学,不以赢利为目的,不求经济回报,学校从小到大,不断发展,现有教学班三十多个,学生一千余人,是一所设施齐全、管理严格、治学严谨的寄宿制完全中学，为了顺应教育形势的改变，我校于2016年华丽转身，改制为弘扬中等专业学校。
扬州市弘扬中等专业学校是依托扬州中学创办的一所扬州市教育局直属学校，具有20多年普通高中办学经验和深厚文化底蕴。学校原有普通高中教学班近三十个，学生1500余人。学校拥有老中青年骨干教师组成的优秀师资团队和现代化的教学设施。为适应教改形势需要，自2010年开始在教育局的指导下，学校积极探索普职融通教改实验，走多样化办学，多层次培养，多渠道升学之路，为学生成人、成才、成功提供优质服务。自转型以后，在教育局及相关部门的扶持下，我校先后开设了美术、旅游管理、烹饪、民航、社区服务、财会、计算机等相关对口单招专业，并且取得了较好的办学效果。
