东莞电子科技大学电子信息工程研究院（简称“电研院”）于2007年8月17日由东莞市人民政府、广东省科技厅与电子科技大学联合共建。
电研院依托电子科技大学拥有电子信息科学技术领域全部6个重点学科（其中电子科学技术一级学科排名全国）资源，快速建成了面向本地电子信息产业的10个研究中心，3个公共实验室，60余个国家及省市级公共服务平台，开展了以“换芯工程”为代表的系列科技创新服务，获得各类科研成果120多项，孵化、参股“成电”系列等科技创新公司近30家，为东莞电子信息产业转型升级做出了重要贡献，成为全国产学研结合公共科技创新平台的典型代表。
