Shanghai Blue Ocean Horticulture Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of its parent company, Shanghai Shanshuiqing Landscape Construction Co., Ltd. In 2005, as the "Horticulture Department" of the parent company, it established its first nursery base in Qingpu. To date, it has established wholly-owned subsidiaries in more than 20 provinces and cities, including Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Shandong, Shanxi, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan. It plans to expand to nearly 50 branches within the next two years, striving to build a nationwide network of interconnected industry, academia, research, and application with national coverage and reach.
The company possesses a scientific management model and strong technical R&D and construction capabilities. It currently employs over 200 staff, including more than 60 mid-level and senior technical personnel. Since 2010, the company has established strategic development relationships with research institutions such as Zhejiang University, Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Botanical Garden, and Chenshan Botanical Garden, and has cooperatively established a new variety R&D center. Among these collaborations, the new and superior variety "Bunch-flowered Camellia" developed with Shanghai Botanical Garden has repeatedly won honors such as "Gold Award" at national nursery stock exhibitions. In 2013, the company established talent strategic partnership relationships with institutions such as Xuesen College, Gansu Agricultural University, Gansu Forestry Technology College, and Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Architectural Technology, laying a solid foundation for its talent reserve. In 2015, it became a national science education base and a comprehensive research base integrating teaching, learning, and research, including the Shanghai Branch of the China Flower Research Institute. In 2016, it was incorporated into the Shanghai New and Superior Variety Industry Alliance by the Shanghai Municipal Greening and City Appearance Administration Bureau, and as one of the first pilot units, it took the lead in related cooperative promotion work. Its production and research bases in Qingpu, Shanghai, were designated as Shanghai's new and superior variety propagation bases.
