Wuhan Huazhong University of Science and Technology Architecture Planning and Design Research Institute Co., Ltd. originated in 1953 and is one of the earliest design units established by universities directly under the Ministry of Education. In 2001, it was formed through the merger of three Grade A institutes: the Architectural Design and Research Institute of the former Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Wuhan Urban Construction Institute, and the Urban Planning and Design Research Institute. Currently, it holds Grade A qualifications for architectural engineering design, urban planning design, landscape architecture engineering special design, Grade B qualifications for municipal engineering design issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Grade B qualifications for engineering consulting issued by the National Development and Reform Commission, and has passed the ISO9001 quality system certification. The design research institute boasts a wealth of talent, complete professional disciplines, advanced equipment, and superior technology. Adhering to the principle of survival through quality and development through innovation, it has undertaken various architectural engineering designs including education, research, culture, sports, office, transportation, passenger transport, tourism, commercial, residential, ancient architecture, industrial plants, as well as urban master planning, regulatory planning, detailed planning, urban design, municipal engineering design, landscape design, interior design, and engineering consulting both domestically. Among these, over a hundred design and consulting projects have won national and provincial/ministerial excellent design awards, earning a good social reputation.
