Kasima Mall

Kasima Mall (*) is a B2B third-party e-commerce platform for the trading and management of scientific research materials. The mall is the first e-commerce platform established in China in the field of scientific research. Facing scientific research, education and industrial institutions, it integrates supply chain resources and, through internet means combined with online and offline services, provides standardized and informatized scientific research trading, management, logistics, information and financial services, fostering a transparent scientific research service ecosystem and thereby achieving win-win outcomes for supply and demand parties, the platform, third-party institutions and others.
At present, the mall's main business scope includes biochemical reagents and consumables, technical services (sequencing, primer synthesis, inspection and testing), small instruments, electronic components, low-value consumable office supplies, agricultural means of production and farm tools, electronics and electricals, etc.; its business covers nearly 40 large and medium-sized cities nationwide; the mall currently has nearly 40,000 registered suppliers, about 100 million online products (entries), 1,454 registered purchasing units, and more than 60,000 members.
With the purpose of building "scientists' own procurement platform", the mall strives to become a platform that protects scientists, facilitates scientists, and promotes scientists' scientific research. The main problems it solves are:
Standardized procurement: The procurement process is strictly designed in accordance with national requirements on scientific research funding management and risk prevention and control, meets the requirements of industry, financial review and special audit inspections, has clear procurement sources and channels, and clarifies responsibilities at each procurement stage.
Efficient procurement: Online supermarket, one-click ordering; massive products, information symmetry; terminal warehousing, delivery upstairs; unified (agency) settlement, improving efficiency.
Quality-assured procurement: Access review and public qualification disclosure ensure high-quality registered suppliers; agreed rules and rapid compensation ensure no counterfeit goods or fake invoices, providing high-quality products and professional services.
Safe procurement: Legal suppliers, professionals doing professional work. Special item procurement process; full life-cycle management of hazardous chemicals; zero warehousing of hazardous chemicals · one-stop service.
Since the mall went online in 2013, it has been applied by many units as a measure to standardize scientific research procurement management. Among the 1,454 registered purchasing units, 109 are from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 1,345 are other scientific research institutions, universities and hospitals; more than 200 units procure entirely through the mall, and more than 100 units have formulated measures to encourage procurement through the mall.
As a third party, the mall does not sell products itself, and has played a role in assisting supervision and promoting transparent and convenient transactions. It has, within a certain scope, solved problems such as the difficulty of procuring scientific research consumables, the difficulty of supervision, and the difficulty of accounting, and has formed a beneficial supplement and expansion to the national government procurement system.
