Changjiang Chongqing Shipping Engineering Survey and Design Institute was established in 1953 and is one of the first professional teams in New China specializing in the design and survey of waterway regulation in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Currently, it holds Grade A qualifications in engineering design for the water transport industry, Grade A engineering survey in the professional category of engineering measurement, and engineering consulting qualifications in port and marine engineering. It has more than 100 employees, including over 70 senior technical personnel and registered certificate holders of various types.
For more than 60 years since its establishment, the Institute has been engaged in survey, design, and scientific research consulting for inland waterway engineering. It has successively completed the regulation design of nearly 300 shoals in the Yichang-to-Yibin section of the upper Yangtze River, enabling 10,000-ton fleets to reach Chongqing and 1,000-ton fleets to reach Yibin, realizing the dream of turning the Sichuan River into a thoroughfare. During the demonstration and advancement of the world-renowned Three Gorges Project on the Yangtze River, the Institute participated in prototype observation, scientific research, and survey and design work related to sediment and navigation issues of the Three Gorges Project, ensuring the navigation benefits of the project. Through more than 60 years of experience and technical accumulation, the Institute has acquired advanced technical strength and holds a leading position in the survey, design, and scientific research of mountain waterways, especially reaching international advanced levels in the observation, analysis, and treatment technology of sediment deposition in river-type reservoirs. At the same time, the Institute also has rich experience in plain waterway regulation, having successively carried out regulation design for the Majiazui, Wuqiao, Yanglinyan, Luxikou, and other waterway sections in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. It has made significant contributions to the navigation cause of the Yangtze River main line and the economic development along the river.
In its arduous development journey, the Institute's footprint has covered the Yangtze River main line, Wujiang River, Jialing River, and Minjiang River of the Yangtze River system; the Xijiang main line, Qianjiang River, Hongshui River, and Liujiang River of the Pearl River system; as well as the Yellow River system, and it has undertaken engineering feasibility studies and survey and design work in the comprehensive regulation of the Lancang-Mekong River, a regional international river. It has extensive social influence in underwater measurement and waterway regulation design for mountain rivers. At the same time, the Institute actively expands its development fields, vigorously carries out EPC design-construction general contracting, conducts design in fields such as municipal engineering, geotechnical engineering, landscape, navigation mark layout, and navigation aids, and provides consulting on navigation impact assessment for bridges, wharves, and navigation structures, as well as navigation safety assessment, forming a rich and broad development space.
The Institute continuously enriches innovative design achievements, learns advanced technology, optimizes basic management, and always adheres to combining design work with innovation. The completed survey and scientific research design projects have repeatedly won national quality engineering awards and many provincial and ministerial-level awards such as the Science and Technology Progress Awards of the Ministry of Transport, Hubei Province, and Chongqing Municipality, and it possesses various invention and utility model technology patents. At the same time, the Institute always adheres to the synchronous and coordinated development of the construction of "three civilizations," and has achieved fruitful results in spiritual civilization construction. It has been awarded various honorary titles such as Chongqing Civilized Unit, National Youth Civilization, and National Women's Civilization Post. The staff of the Institute carry forward the "three special spirits" of "especially able to endure hardship, especially able to fight, and especially dedicated," innovating and forging ahead, and a large number of advanced models have emerged, including provincial and ministerial-level model workers, national youth post experts, and top ten outstanding youth of Changjiang Shipping.
In future work, the Institute will continue to uphold "
