State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company

State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company was established on June 6, 1997, following the establishment of Chongqing as a municipality directly under the Central Government. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China, responsible for power grid planning and construction, operation management, electricity sales, and power supply services in Chongqing. Its operating area covers 38 districts and counties across the city, with a power supply area of 79,000 square kilometers, serving a population of approximately 30 million and 17.343 million electricity customers. By the end of 2022, Chongqing's power grid had a substation capacity of 79.164 million kVA at 220 kV and above, and a line length of 13,631.8 kilometers at 220 kV and above.
Chongqing's power grid connects Sichuan to the west, Hubei to the east, and Guizhou to the south, making it one of the important hubs of the "West-East Electricity Transmission" project. Five DC ultra-high-voltage transmission lines—Fufeng, Jinsu, Qishao, Jiansu, and Jintang—run across Chongqing. A 500 kV "two horizontal and three vertical" ring network structure has been formed, 220 kV substations cover all districts and counties, the urban and rural distribution networks have been upgraded, and the rural distribution network has been continuously consolidated and improved.
In recent years, the company has adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, earnestly implemented the decisions and arrangements of State Grid Corporation of China and the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, and consistently practiced the corporate purpose of "The people's electric power industry serves the people." It has fought the epidemic, battled floods, assisted in poverty alleviation, and ensured power supply. It has actively fulfilled the political, economic, and social responsibilities of a central state-owned enterprise, vigorously promoted power grid transformation and upgrading, continuously optimized the electricity business environment, actively advanced quality improvement and efficiency enhancement, accelerated the construction of an energy internet enterprise with Chinese characteristics, and served and supported the construction of a new socialist modern Chongqing. The company system has successively won honorary titles such as the National "May 1st" Labor Award, National Civilized Unit, National Model Enterprise with Harmonious Labor Relations, National Model Workers' Home, National Demonstration Unit for Open and Democratic Management of Factory Affairs, and National Model Unit for Professional Ethics Construction of Employees.
