Founded in December 2016, Bojun Auto is a technology company dedicated to smart mobility solutions. Its vision is to define smart transportation and improve quality of life, and its mission is to provide multi-dimensional intelligent mobility, mobile energy, and shared economy solutions by integrating technology and innovation, with electric vehicles as the carrier. In Pukou, Nanjing, Bojun will build a manufacturing plant covering an area of 0 mu (Chinese unit of area), with a planned initial annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles, which will reach a total of 300,000 vehicles after the completion of the second phase. The first model of Bojun, an electric SUV, is expected to enter mass production by the end of 2019.
Currently, Bojun has an international R&D team of over 800 people, with R&D centers, marketing centers, and manufacturing plants in Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Huaian, and Detroit, USA, achieving a global layout across two countries and five locations. It possesses core technologies such as chassis platforms, three-electric systems (battery, motor, and electronic control), lightweighting, and ADAS solutions, making it one of the few domestic companies with a forward-developed platform.
Facing issues such as traffic congestion and pollution, Bojun has proposed a smart transportation concept, aiming to effectively solve these problems in the future by establishing strategic partnerships with transportation system design and construction groups, telecom operators, and ride-hailing companies, as well as designing and manufacturing autonomous vehicles and providing last-mile solutions. For the charging of new energy vehicles, Bojun has creatively proposed new models such as reverse power transmission, peak shaving and valley filling, and off-grid charging, to reduce vehicle energy costs and enhance grid efficiency. These ideas and initiatives will provide society with effective smart mobility solutions.
Since its development, Bojun Auto has successfully completed three rounds of financing and is about to conclude a fourth round. These include heavyweight industry-backing Fortune Global 500 central state-owned enterprise Sinochem Group, government-backed large investment funds such as Jiangsu Provincial Government Investment Fund and Nanjing Jiangbei New Area Development Fund, as well as large social private equity funds such as China Science & Merchants Investment Management Group, and one of China's largest fund-of-funds, Shengshi Investment, in addition to well-known strategic investors in the new energy industry such as Suzhou Positec. It is a leading new energy vehicle enterprise closely watched by the capital market. Furthermore, the government has provided ample financial support for heavy capital investments such as plant construction, accelerating the development of Bojun Auto.
