Ji Hua Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as "the Laboratory") is one of the first provincial laboratories initiated by the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government in December 2017. It aims to build a strategic scientific and technological innovation platform that is domestically first-class and internationally high-end in the field of advanced manufacturing science and technology, focusing on three main research directions: new display equipment, semiconductor technology and equipment, and high-end CNC machine tools, to conduct systematic key core technology research and major equipment development. The laboratory's research park is located in the core area of Sanlongwan Science and Technology City, Foshan City, covering 238 mu with a building area of 300,000 square meters. The entire park has won the highest honor in China's construction industry quality, the "China Construction Engineering Luban Award", and features public research platforms with advanced equipment and complete functions such as a testing center, optical platform, and superlubricity platform, while offering open sharing services of instruments and equipment to society. The laboratory currently has 16 research and support departments with a total personnel scale of over 1,300, forming a talent echelon with academicians and experts as the core and high-end talents as the backbone. It hosts a national post-doctoral research workstation and a Guangdong provincial doctoral workstation, and jointly cultivates graduate students and highly skilled talents with more than 20 universities and research institutes. In leading major tasks, the laboratory diligently practices the new nationwide system for key core technology breakthroughs under the conditions of the socialist market economy. It has undertaken over 100 national and provincial-level research projects, and has been approved to establish the display equipment innovation platform of the National Innovation Center for New Display Technologies, the Guangdong Provincial Engineering Research Center for Semiconductor High-end Equipment and Key Components, among others. It has successfully developed achievements such as OLED inkjet printing equipment and its supporting ink materials, SiC high-temperature epitaxial equipment, and high-power microwave power supplies, and its annual number of exclusive invention patent applications ranks among the forefront of research institutes in the province. It has incubated more than 20 technology-based enterprises with cumulative sales contracts exceeding 200 million yuan. It has cooperated with over 100 enterprises to support the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. In the future, the laboratory will adhere to the construction principles of "lofty aspirations, comprehensive openness, people-oriented approach, and emphasis on practical results", striving to become a national strategic scientific and technological force in the advanced manufacturing field, an innovation source for the advanced manufacturing industry in the Greater Bay Area, and a gathering place for top innovative, entrepreneurial, and creative talents.
