China Building Materials Institute

China Building Materials Science Research Institute Co., Ltd. (referred to as China Building Materials Institute) is a wholly-owned secondary enterprise under China National Building Material Group, founded in 1950, known as the "cradle and birthplace of new China's building materials science and technology." The institute has established a scientific research and innovation system centered on "strengthening the enterprise through disciplines." It owns 16 national and provincial-level laboratories, 27 national and provincial-level engineering technology research centers, 36 national industry quality inspection centers, and 10 national standardization technical committees. It offers doctoral and master's degree programs in inorganic non-metallic materials, and has established post-doctoral research stations and academician expert workstations. It has completed over 3,650 national and industry-level scientific research projects, won more than 1,200 national, provincial, and ministerial awards, issued 20 international standards, over 1,400 national and industry standards, and holds more than 4,000 patents. A large number of "bottleneck" technologies have achieved breakthroughs, and numerous new technologies and materials have been applied to major national projects, making it an important national strategic scientific and technological force in the field of inorganic non-metallic materials in China. The institute has 112 enterprises at all levels that are wholly-owned, holding, or participating, and controls two listed companies, with two companies planned for listing on the Science and Technology Innovation Board, building an industrial capital platform. It possesses 8 international cooperation platforms including the Green Building Materials International Cooperation Base and the Asian Cement and Concrete Research Institute. Empowering international development with technology, it anchors on two major development directions: "digital-intelligent transformation of material R&D and production" and "enhancement of digital value," striving to build an internationally competitive scientific and technological enterprise. The institute comprehensively lays out strategic emerging industries in seven major areas: low-carbon building materials, key non-metallic materials for integrated circuits, resin-based composite materials, refractory materials, new energy materials and equipment, glass-based and ceramic-based functional materials, and inspection, certification, and related services.
